Group dry physical therapy

Group dry physical therapy

Mechanism of Action:

Physical therapy is a specialized form of movement therapy aimed at restoring mobility through exercises determined by a physiotherapist, or, if this is not possible, adapting to the altered condition. Physical therapy can be divided into active and passive procedures. The active parts of physical therapy include guided active movement and movement directed by instruction. In guided active movement, muscle strengthening can be performed from unloaded work to resistance work (in stages: unloaded position, against gravity, and against resistance).

Movement directed by instruction is performed independently by the patient. Its goal is muscle strengthening, relaxation, and movement coordination. In the passive parts of physical therapy, the patient relaxes the body part being moved, and the therapist directs the movement.

The goal of movement is to maintain the range of motion of the joints, prevent the development of contractures (limitations in the range and direction of joint movement), or resolve existing contractures, as well as to stimulate the initiation of active movements. The movement follows the normal range of motion of the joints. It is essential that movement always occurs only up to the pain threshold!

As a result of the therapeutic application of physical therapy, improvements in muscle strength, movement coordination, balance, stamina, and standing ability can be achieved, along with enhanced circulation.

In our medical practice, group therapy sessions are available, with groups consisting of 2-5 people.

The following dry therapy exercises are available:

  • Guided group spinal therapy
  • Guided group shoulder therapy
  • Guided group hip therapy
  • Guided group knee therapy
  • Guided group ankle therapy
  • Guided group elbow therapy
  • Guided group RA therapy (for patients with polyarticular inflammation)
  • Guided group SPA therapy (for patients with so-called Bechterew's disease).

Duration of Physical Therapy:

30 minutes.

Procedure:

The patient participates in the therapy in comfortable, loose clothing, performing the exercises under the guidance of the physiotherapist.

Indications:

It is applicable in all musculoskeletal disorders, such as degenerative diseases of the spine and/or large joints, as well as inflammatory rheumatological conditions (RA, SPA).

Contraindications:

Febrile conditions, acute infections, menstruation, thrombosis, pregnancy, cardiovascular insufficiency, cardiac arrhythmia, advanced heart-kidney-liver diseases, tuberculosis.
